Although Tel Aviv is on the Mediterranean coast, it does not have a passenger ferry port. The closest port is about 40 kilometers (25 mi) south of Tel Aviv in the city of Ashdod. Ashdod is Israel's largest and busiest port. Passenger ferries leave Ashdod for Cyprus and Turkey, and several cruise lines stop in this city. Cargo ships arrive in Ashdod from ports all over the world, and Ashdod is the port used for humanitarian aid shipments to Gaza.
